HUFTON, Thomas Butler - age 71, died Monday, August 4, 2014 in Cancun Mexico. Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, August 11 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton with Fr. Dwight Ezop officiating. Interment at Great Lakes Nation Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 1-4 and 6-9 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
He leaves his loving wife of 46 years, Ana Maria (Islas) Hufton: his children, Maria and Todd Belcik, Annette and Jon Kelly, and Tom and Carrie Hufton; his grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, and Nico Belcik, Alejandra, Jack, Daniel, and Isabel Kelly, and Tommy, Estella, and Elliana Hufton: sisters, Gayle Park, Priscilla Hufton, and Judy Hufton: his brothers-in laws, sister-in laws, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was born on August 14, 1942 in Flint, Michigan. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1959 and joined the Army in 1960. Afterwards, he attended the University of Michigan Flint and Arizona State University. He met his wife, Ana Maria, in Monterrey, Mexico and was married January 7, 1967. He worked for General Motors for 38 years.
Tom will be remembered for his sense of humor. He loved to make people smile by telling jokes and pulling pranks. He especially enjoyed traveling. When his children were younger they went to Mexico every year to visit family. He also loved visiting Arizona. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family.
