Carol Murray
Age 82 of Clio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 29, 2016, surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Trinity Assembly of God Church, 4363 W. Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Rev. Dick Rotier will officiate; Rev. Bill Christensen is the host pastor. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clio. Visitation will be on Friday at the Mount Morris Community Church, 7245 N. Center Road, Mt. Morris from 4:30 PM to 8 PM and on Saturday at Trinity Assembly of God from 9 AM to time of service at 11 AM.
Mrs. Carol Ann (Johns) Murray was born on November 27, 1933, in Detroit, the daughter of the late Everett and Catherine (Van Esley) Johns. She attended McKenzie High School in Detroit and attended Wayne State School of Music. She was appointed as a State of Michigan Cemetery Commissioner by Gov. George Romney, Sr. in 1968 and reappointed by Gov. William Milliken in 1972. She continued her career of service with 40 plus years in the cemetery business. Mrs. Murray was an active member of the Republican Party. Carol was an active member of the Rotary Club of Clio and a previous Director of the Senior Outreach Program at Greater Flint Outreach. One of her passions was showing dogs. She had three Best in Show dogs that she bred.
She leaves to cherish, but to never be forgotten, by three children: Kathryn of Oregon; Thomas (Kristie) of Clio; and Kenneth Murray of California. Her greatest passion in life was her three grandsons - Dillon, Kellen and Grant. She is also survived by brother, William Johns of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Debbie Johns of Livonia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James M. Murray; and brother, Jerry Johns.
