DELL, William Lee (Bill), age 91, of Flint and Lincoln Michigan, died April 8, 2019 at Victoria’s House Memory Care. A Memorial Service will be held 1:30 P.M., April 27th at Unity Christian Church, 5255 S. Linden Rd., Swartz Creek, Michigan . Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 Noon - 1:30 PM
Bill was born September 24, 1927, in Flint, Michigan, to Earl and Fern (Packard) Dell. He attended Northern High School in Flint, Michigan. He voluntarily joined the US Navy in 1945, and talked about his time on the USS Bennington fondly, always recalling that the Navy was the best thing in his life. He served in WWII and the Korean War. After his Navy service he was employed by Michigan Bell for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Bill married Janet Blue in 1950 and was brought much joy by the birth of their three children. In 1981 he married Betty Bourgeois, adding three additional children to his family. They were to become soulmates for 38 wonderful years. Bill loved all his family so much, especially his children and grandchildren. He also loved to go fishing with friends and family, especially his grandson Bobby and always cleaned the smallest of the catch without complaint for his Mom, Fern. He was a founding member of Community Christian Church and worked with his parents and many others to build their new church and congregation. Bill was a man of God and while he didn’t talk a lot about his beliefs, his goodness as a person and his life with God could be seen within him and his actions in his life.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty and his children Robert (Kristy) Dell, Jane (Larry) Worthing, Wayne (Joan) Dell, Lori (Eric) Hammond, Robert (Doris) Bourgeois, Richard Bourgeois. Bill also leaves cherished memories with his grandchildren Bobby (Andrea) Dell, Kimmy (Travis) Alexander, Jenny (Joe) Gilson, Nathan, Aaron (Tay), Steven Dell, Jennifer, Katelyn, Ryan Lewis and his great grandchildren Evelyn, Corbyn, Tessa, Alivia, Avery, Aaliyah, Fox; Many dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Dorothy and Richard. Many sincere thanks to Victoria’s House, Vickie, Chris and all the staff along with the staff of Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill’s honor can be made to Unity Christian Church, 5255 S. Linden Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 |
