SMILEY, Kenneth Elvis - Of Fenton (formerly of Lansing), age 71, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 10am Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Larry McMellen officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Job’s Daughters Foundation of Michigan.
Visitation 2-8pm Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. Eastern Star and related services will be held at 6:30pm Sunday evening followed by Grand Blanc Lodge #571 F.&A.M. service at 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born in St. Louis, MO on December 31, 1942. Ken served in the Army Reserves. He worked for the State of Michigan’s Office of the Auditor General for over 30 years and was a CPA. He also worked for ReMax Select as an accountant. Ken was a life member of Capital Lodge 66 S.O. and had plural membership with Grand Blanc Lodge 571. He was a member of York Rite bodies and a Past High Priest and a holder of the Order of the Purple Cross. Ken was a member of the Bay City Consistory and a member of Elf Khurafeh Shrine. He also served on various committees of the Grand Lodge of Michigan. Ken was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Past Patron of the Grand Blanc Chapter 507. He was a Past Associated Supreme Guardian of Job’s Daughters International, a Past Associate Grand Guardian of Michigan and a Past Associate Bethel Guardian Lansing and Grand Blanc Bethels. Ken was also a Past Dad Advisor Order of DeMolay for the Lansing Chapter and a holder of the Honorary Legion of Honor. He also served on the Caravan Youth Center Circus committee for several years. Surviving are wife of 46 years, Marilee;
daughter, Sheila of West Branch; son, Duane (Ann) of Jackson;
grandchildren, Emma, Tim and Sarah of Jackson; brother, Dan (Nancy) of Swartz Creek; brother-in-law, Geoff of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Mark, father and mother, Elvis and Mae and his sister Phronsie.
