HEUSTED, Dale Edward “Pete” – of Davison, age 82, passed away February 6, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; The Rev. George L. Cleaves, Jr. officiating. Burial, with Military Honors under the auspices of the Davison American Legion Post #267 will follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday and 10-11 AM Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dale was born in Flint, MI on June 6, 1931, son of the late Ernest and Viola (Lumsden) Heusted. He graduated from Otter Lake High School in 1949. Dale was in the United States Marines, Platoon 106, Fifth Battalion from 1951-1954. He was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in London, England during the Korean War. He served as an Honor Guard at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in June, 1953. Dale married Janice Stillman on May 8, 1954. He was a graduate of Flint Community College. Dale was a member of the Otisville Lions Club and the Otter Lake American Legion. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers, summers at the cottage on Lake Huron and spending time with his family. Dale retired from General Motors – Ternstedt/Delphi after 36 years of service.

Dale is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice; daughters, Kimberley (Tom) Shade of Davison, Laurie Perior (fiancé Greg Mersino) of Allendale and Shelley Walts of Hampton Falls, NH; grandchildren, Lisa (Terry) Katzur of Flint, Amy (Jason) Blandford of Swartz Creek, Julie (James) VanEvery of Grand Blanc, Sara (Chris) Yard of Columbiaville, Jeffrey Shade of Grand Rapids and Emiley Walts of Hampton Falls, NH; great-grandchildren, Allison Katzur, Connor Blandford, Alaina Blandford and Carsyn Yard; brothers, Bill (Phyliss) Heusted of FL, LaVerne (Phyllis) Heusted of Otisville and Gary (Mary) Heusted of Otter Lake; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Heusted of Otisville, Joan (Clair) Watkins of Lockport, NY, James (Susan) Stillman of Lexington, Julie (Paul) Robinson of Frankfort; many nieces and nephews; special friends of the family, Paul Perior, Nicholas Walts, Bill and Ada Hoard and Jon Comeford; He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Doug and Roger. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Bhagat, Linda Everett, RN at McLaren Hospital and the many caring nurses and nurse assistants at Gentiva Hospice.
