BYERS, Marlene M. - Of West Branch, formerly of Flint, age 85, died Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
A celebration of Life service will be held 1pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Eugene Byers officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 Hill Road, Grand Blanc.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Marlene was born in Flint, Michigan on September 4, 1938, the daughter of the late Francis and Virginia Lucas. Marlene graduated from Kearsley High School. On December 4, 1959, she married the love of her life, Eugene Byers. Marlene was the former secretary of the Stitsville Beagle Club. Marlene and Eugene bred and raised Grand Champion Beagles. Their Lake Ogemaw Beagles were nationally recognized and they were featured in Better Beagling. Marlene enjoyed reading, watching old westerns and spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters, Sherrie (Blair) Bennett, Judy (Charlie) Brown, Sandra (Mike) McGrath and Vickie Alaniz (Andrew Mancillas);
7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren;
And special friend Janie (Larry) Blakely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Byers.
