YACHANIN, Evelyn O.- of Clio, age 82, passed away on January 26, 2013. Visitation will be held at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Wednesday from 11AM-2PM and 4PM-8PM. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 31, 2013. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Clio American Legion or Clio Senior Center
Evelyn was born in Trumann, AR on November 3, 1930 to the late Theodore and Dorothy Hodge. Her teen years were spent at Flint Northern H.S. where she met her future husband, Michael Yachanin. She was the staff photographer at Westover Base, MS and was a recruiter in Kentucky during a 3 year stint in the Air Force. She worked as a bookkeeper for Howard Hobson at Genesee Lumber and office manager for the Bill Hobson dealerships. Her passions in life included raising six kids, bowling, gardening, her fish pond and having many friends at the Clio American Legion and Senior Center craft room with her best friend Lila Ellis.
Preceding her in death are Husband, Michael; sister, Dot Jean and brother Ben. Surviving are: brother, Ted (Connie) Hodge; sister-in-law, Jan Hodge; cousin, Dorothy Mae Baum; and children, Michael (Carol), Kathy (Clyde) Nakaishi, Sue (Dave) Barr, Dotty Freathy, Ted and Ed (Ladessa); 10 grandchildren and 3 great grand children.
