James W. Bierlein, 84, of Reese, died unexpectedly, Wednesday morning, January 8, 2020 at Covenant HealthCare, Cooper Campus, in Saginaw. He was born July 26, 1935 in Denmark Township, Tuscola County, son of the late Lorenz and Lena (Englehardt) Bierlein. Jim was a graduate of Reese High School. On July 25, 1960 he married the former Janet Mae Warnick in Frankenmuth. She predeceased him April 17, 2013. He was employed for over thirty years as a Machinist at G.M. in Flint and farmed most of his life in the Reese area. Jim was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese and was a member of both the Frankenmuth and Richville Conservation Clubs. His favorite enjoyments included hunting, fishing, watching Tiger baseball, and polka’s.

Surviving are his two sons; Scott Bierlein and his wife Julie of Freeland; and Michael Bierlien of Reese; five grandchildren; Amanda LeBuda and husband Mike of Reese; Matthew Bierlein of Genesee; Nathan Bierlein of Freeland; Benjamin Bierlein and Lily Bierlein, both of Reese; step granddaughter, Ashlynn Wrona, three great-grandchildren; Marley, Mia and Bo; and his sister, Katie Kischnick of Vassar. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Howard and Harriet and Warnick , Marty and Dottie Warnick, Janet Warnick, all of Frankenmuth; and Linda Warnick of Tuscon, Arizona. In addition to his parents and wife Janet, Jim was predeceased by two brothers; Roy and Arnold Bierlein and his sister; Emeline Roth.

Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2020 from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Reverend Daniel Burhop and Vicar Jessten Heimer will both officiate with burial to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Jim’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Sunday from 2-7 p.m. and at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor’s favorite charity
