Ann M. Stark, Age 73, of Alma, MI passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2011.
Ann was born November 2, 1937 in Bay City, MI to Mahlon and Ethel Shepard. She graduated from Bay City Central High School, then continued her education at Central Michigan University and Mott Community College where she earned her LPN degree.
Ann was a life member of the Eastern Stars, Chapter 138 of Flint and also a member of the Coe Chapter 98 and Alma Chapter 43. In 2000 - 2001, Ann served as Grand Ester in the Bupp Arnold grand Family. In 2004 - 2005, she served as secretary to the worthy Grand Matron of the Cross Moerdyke Grand Family.
In 2005, during a trip to the Mayo Clinic, Ann's doctors told her that she had cancer and about 9 months to live. Ann put up a gallant fight, enduring chemo and radiation treatments and a multitude of tests and doctors visits, always with a positive attitude and a will to live.
Ann is survived by Tom, her husband of 54 years, children Elizabeth (Donald) Reed of Littleton, CO, Barbara (Craig) Barton of Brighton and Mary (Brian) Montney of Shepherd, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Ann was preceeded in death by her parents.
Per Ann's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Ann's life will take place at the Shepherd United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 11:00a.m. the family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Woodland Hospice in honor of Ann. |
