SEVERN, Neil “Pork Chop” – of Mt Morris, age 81, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Darrel Manning officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services at 3 PM. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Neil was born on June 5, 1932 in Mt. Morris to the late James and Ola (Klinert) Severn. Neil married Grace Sova in October 14, 1950 and had recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. He retired from Buick in 1980 with 30 years seniority. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Detroit Tigers, playing bingo, playing cards with family and loved old country music. He was a member of the UAW Local #599.
Surviving are: wife, Grace; sons, Bruce Severn of WI, Thomas (Mary) Severn, Jeffery Severn and Steven Severn all of Mt. Morris; daughters, Denise Gillies, Cheryl (Chris) Harcz and Laurie (Doug) Mansfield all of Mt. Morris; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Ora Keys of Clio, Ila (Lyle) Bellinger of Mt. Morris, Beatrice Cinke of Flint, Laurel (Ernie) Reed of Sand Lake; 4 sisters-in-law, Delores Stevens of Clio, Marie Palmer of Owosso, Ruby Denkins of Clio; many nieces and nephews. Neil was also preceded in death by: great granddaughter, Monica Hetzer; son-in-law, Anthony Gillies; daughter-in-law, Lynn Severn; brothers, Roland, Lloyd, Cecil, Earl and Clare Severn; brothers-in-law, Frank Stevens, Les Denkins, Wes Palmer, John Sova, Merl Keys and James “Red” Cinke; sisters-in-laws, Arleita Severn, Marcie Severn, Patrice Severn and Joyce Sova.
