Mildred Lorainne Robinson of Flint, Michigan died peacefully at home on November 26, 2019.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at noon at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI 48507. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM immediately following the visitation. Reverend Cathi Huvaere will be officiating. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the GBS|CIDP Foundation International (https://www.gbs-cidp.org) or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (https://www.nationalmssociety.org).
Millie was born on June 11, 1931 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1949 and recently enjoyed attending her 70th high school reunion. She received a bachelor's degree in Social Services in 1954 from Michigan State College (now Michigan State University). After college, she moved to Flint where she was employed as a social worker at the Child Welfare Home and where she met the love of her life, H. Dean Robinson. Millie and Dean were married on October 15, 1955, and they soon accomplished Millie's wish to have four children before she reached the age of 30.
Millie was an avid reader her entire life and passed that love of books on to her children. She enjoyed a variety of crafts including knitting, crocheting, and all kinds of embroidery. Her creativity and her compassion for children made her the perfect Girl Scout leader. She was a talented cake decorator and a wonderful cook and baker. She loved nature and traveling, playing scrabble, and cheering on her MSU Spartans and her Detroit Tigers. Millie's greatest accomplishment was raising her children to be kind, loving, and independent adults, and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and witnessing their many accomplishments.
Millie is survived by her children: Deborah (Hikmat) Karyakose, Richard (Christi) Robinson, and Jill Robinson; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Trimble, Korey (Ines) Robinson, Sarah Robinson, Anna (Tyson) Burghardt, Rachel (Justin) Karyakose, Rebecca Robinson, Jonathon Robinson, and Hansen Karyakose; and great grandson: Dean Robinson.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Anna (Wokeck) Tober; husband, Harland Dean Robinson; brothers: Harold, Herbert (Mike), and Walter Tober; and son, Daniel Robinson.
