HAGLER, Alvin Russell - Age 79, of Lennon, died December 1, 2013 at University Hospital, Ann Arbor.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, December 5 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Gaines. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday, 11 AM - 12 Noon Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of their choice.
Alvin was born March 19, 1934 in Gleason TN the son of Noah R. and Mary V. (Fodge) Hagler. He had resided in Lennon since 1964 coming from Flushing and Lansing. He was married to Anna A.C. Jorgensen on May 4, 1953 in Corinth MS.
He retired from Kettering University with 39 years of service as a Professor of Physics and Professor Emeritus. While at Kettering he authored many professional articles, texts, and research related to Physics, Optics, Holography, Non-destructive testing, health effects due to exposure to Radon Gas along with Wildlife Research. He was a member of the Flint Bowman Club, Flushing Pistol and Rifle Club, and Durand Sportsman's Club. He had been active in the Flint Olympian games and served as the Archery Chairman.
Surviving are wife of 60 years Anna; three children, Rodney (Julie) Hagler, Pamela (Ray) Balutowicz, Gary (Marian) Hagler; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Sherry Trafford; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Judy) Jorgensen, Jim Jorgensen; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
