Gene “Joe” Zalud, age 72, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Joe was born on June 9, 1943 in Bear Lake, Michigan to parents John and Leva “Bonnie” (Clements) Zalud. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Joe enjoyed hunting and picking morel mushrooms, but he especially loved his role as “Papa Joe,” and spending time with his grandchildren. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his children: Frank (Cheryl) Luna, Dave Luna, Mary (Rick) Hyde, Mike (Linda) Luna, Danny Luna, Patricia (Chuck) Yanta, Randy Zalud; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings: Evelyn, Patsy (Dick), Beverly (Dennis), Lee, Todd (Mary), and Jack. He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife of 30 years, Angelita Zalud; son, Gregorio Luna; sister, Frances “Buzz”. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Reigle Funeral Home (5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing). The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. Interment to take place at Flint Memorial Park. |
