GAMBER, Alice Jeanette. – of Montrose, age 91, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Dennis Gamber officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-8 PM and on Friday from 9 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to Montrose Baptist Church.
Alice was born April 30, 1924 in Flint, Michigan to the late Floyd Everett and Minnie Lee (Powell) Hinton. She married Howard Clifford Gamber on June 8, 1946. He preceded her in death August 4, 1985. Alice was a supervisor for Bell Telephone Company during WWII and later was a kindergarten teacher for many years with Flint Christian School. She was a past member of North Baptist Church in Flint and a very involved member of Montrose Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. Alice enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Surviving are: 6 children: Paul (Mary) Gamber of Frankenmuth, Dennis (Nancy) Gamber of New York, Janine Gamber of Grand Blanc, Joan Clark of Montrose, John (Sharon) Gamber of Clio and Cindy (Jesse) Smith of Mt. Morris; 14 grandchildren: Megan (Jeremy) DuRussel, Paula (Dan) VanVeghel, Jennifer (Steve) Barton, Amy Gamber, Matt (Bekka) Gamber, Alicia Clark, Ashley (Abe) Clark, Allison Clark, Brad (Ashley) Gamber, Ben Gamber, Beth (Josh) Keysor, Tamara Miller, Eric (Chelsea) Gamber and Byron Ward; 10 great-grandchildren: Payton, Karsyn, Collyns, Tori, Nathan, Timothy, Evelyn, Amelia, Evaine and Tayshawn; Brother, Harold (Betty) Hinton of Fenton; Sister, Carol Bantle of Arkansas.
