Roberts, Katherine of Flushing, age 57, died Monday, August 31, 2015, at Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Memorial services will be 12 noon Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Rossell Funeral Home. Rev. Clifford Bira will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Katherine was born in Flint, Michigan on July 8, 1958, the daughter of Donald and Carol (McGilvery) Nevanen. She was a member of the Flushing Moose Lodge #736, Women's Auxiliary. Katherine was a devoted grandmother. She was an original “foodie” who loved going to restaurants and enjoyed fine dining. Katherine also enjoyed spending time at her cabin on Drummond Island.
She is survived by her children, Ian Roberts, Meghan and husband Jason Oakes, Colin and wife Samantha Roberts; grandchildren, Evan, Jason, Landon; sisters, Wendy and husband David McKone, Lisa and husband Tony Perry; niece, Lauren and husband Jared Hamernick; uncle, Lloyd McGilvery and several dear cousins. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice House of Shiawassee County for their care and compassion.
