RICHTER, Lloyd J. - Of Grand Blanc formerly of Fenton, age 102, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at his residence.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30am Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 7234 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, 48439,
Pastor Nathan Allen officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation 4-8pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Lloyd was born in Chesaning on November 15, 1913, the son of Edith (Thiel) and George Richter. In 1936, he married Lydia Miller from Chesaning and had 66 wonderful years of marriage. Lloyd worked at Bower Roller Bearing and Aviation Corp. in Detroit during World War II. In 1945, he moved to St. Helen where he built cabins on Richter Street, and in 1949, he moved to Fenton and worked at Fisher One in Flint and the Tank Plant in Grand Blanc. Lloyd opened Richter Sales and Service in Fenton in 1955 in his garage and later built his store with his nephew, Joe Schneider on N. Leroy in Fenton. Lloyd became sole owner of the business a few years later and retired in 1969. He wintered for 31 years with his wife in Florida. Lloyd enjoyed bass fishing, deer and pheasant hunting and reminiscing about his past experiences he had in his life.
Surviving are children, son, Gordon (Ann) Richter of Micco, FL and daughter, Noralyn Arnold of Grand Blanc;
Five grandsons, Randy (Anne) Richter of Ypsilanti, Darrell Richter of Grant, FL, Rodney Richter of Palm Bay, FL, Jason and Frank Richter of Grand Haven, MI;
Four great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia, son, Gary Len, parents, and sister, Beatrice Britten.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Burton Senior Center or The National Kidney Foundation.
