MAYFIELD, David Daniel - died Sunday, July 12, 2020.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on June 21, 1935, to William and Gladys Mayfield and lived on Fenton Road until 1956. He was a member of Lincoln Park Methodist Church in Flint before moving to Owosso where he served in many capacities at that Methodist Church. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School and attended Flint Junior College where he earned an Associate Engineering Degree. He also earned a Journeyman’s Card in die maintenance at Chevrolet. He worked for 39 years in management at Moore Iron Works. David then started his own company. David enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of the Shiawassee Road Runners. He was also an ardent fan of Michigan State football and the Detroit Tigers. David married Dorothy June Barnes on January 15, 1956.
He is survived by wife, Dorothy;
sons, David Mark Mayfield (wife Wendy) of Bellingham, WA and Scott Alan Mayfield (wife Marjy) of Salinas, CA;
daughter, Karen Sue Weinberg of Three Rivers, MI (husband Jay);
grandchildren, Nicholas and Erika Mayfield, Travis and Cody Thayer, Megan and Amanda Mayfield, Casandra Weinberg as well as brother Albert Mayfield (wife Elnora) of Swartz Creek, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by sisters, Lucille Burrus and Wilma Palmer.
According to his wishes, David’s brain is being donated to the U of M Hospital to learn more about the rare condition that caused his illness and death.
Cremation will then take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
