MARTIN, Thomas Palmer Jr. – age 73 of Flushing, MI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 12PM-4PM and again from 6PM-8PM. A scripture service will be held at 7PM. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church – 2415 Bagley St., Flint, MI 48504, with an hour of visitation with the family prior to the service. Father Steven Makranyi celebrant. Tom was born in Jackson, MI on August 29, 1941 to Thomas Palmer and Margaret Rose (Renihan) Martin Sr. He attended Wayne State University (Class of 1964). He was introduced to Mary Kathleen Dupray on a blind date who turned out to be the love of his life. They were married on January 8, 1966. Tom worked as a sales engineer and owned his own business. He had an incredible sense of humor and always had a joke and/or a story to tell. Surviving are his cherished wife of 49 years, Mary Kathleen; son, Thomas (Aprille) Martin III, daughter, Elizabeth Martin; grandchildren, Joseph (Joe-Man) Edward and Brittany Rose; sisters, Dr. Kathleen O’Dowd and Anne Goodwin; brother, David (Sue) Martin; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Palmer and Margaret Rose Martin Sr.; brother, George Martin; and sister, Judy Martin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Select Specialty Hospital. Those desiring to make contributions, may do so to St. John Vianney Catholic School.
