BRIGGS, Betty May-of Flint, formerly of Otter Lake, age 85, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Stonegate Health Campus. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home., 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Rev. Barbara Benjamin officiating. The family will receive visitors 11 AM -8:00PM Saturday. Private burial will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Betty was born in Mohawk, MI on November 1, 1927, the daughter of the late Walker and Cora (Odgers) Jaehnig. On November 28,1946 she married Warren Briggs and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2000. Betty was a member and Past Worthy Matron of O.E.S.,Otisville Chapter 282. She was the Past Guardian of Job’s Daughter Bethel #63. Betty was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and watching the Detroit Tigers.
Betty is survived by her children, Warren (Peggy) Briggs, Jr., Frank (Jeanne) Briggs, Clair Johnson, Mary Jo (Mark) Mathews; 12 Grandchildren; and 15 Great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Charlene Sanders. She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Terry Sue Briggs on October 12, 2007 and son-in-law, Timothy Johnson; sisters Adelaide Payne, Marjorie Tice and Patricia Ranger.
