Bruce Duane Howe passed away July, 8, 2024. He was born in Flint, Michigan to Zella (Unger) and Eugene A. Howe on June 6, 1931, and just celebrated his 93rd birthday. Bruce graduated from Northern High School in 1950 and worked at the family owned Howe’s Garage in Flint until he retired in 1973. He married Winifred E. Howe on March 6, 1953. They enjoyed 70 years together!
Bruce was in the United States Army where he served in El Paso, Texas in 1953 and in Fairbanks, Alaska at Ladd Army Base in 1954. After the Army, Bruce served in the Michigan National Guard until 1957.
As a life-time member of Asbury Methodist Church, Bruce worked with the United Methodist Men and was a counselor for the MYF youth group. He sang in the Chancel Choir for many years and helped with the pasty-making at Asbury for decades.
Bruce was the one called every time something broke! He helped everyone that needed help and would come any time - day or night. He liked watching westerns on the tv and really liked playing with remotes. He loved fishing at the lake, boat rides with the kids, and sitting around a fire pit in the evenings. And, of course, sitting on the swing with Winnie. He made jewelry from Petoskey stones for many years and was a rock hound.
Surviving are daughter, Diane (Howe) Vyvyan and husband Warren Vyvyan, son, Jeffrey Bruce Howe and wife Kathryn (Russell) Howe; grandchildren Laura Vyvyan, Allen and wife Lauren Vyvyan, Jessica (Howe) McKinsey and husband Jeff, Emily (Howe) Marczewski and husband Greg; Great-Grandchildren Henry Vyvyan, Elizabeth Vyvyan, Emma McKinsey, Sophia Vyvyan, Edgar and Arthur Sanborn, Jack McKinsey and Baby Girl Marczewski.
Visitation is 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. before the 11:00 a.m. service at Brown Funeral Home on Hill Road in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
