BOYER, Edith ‘Grandma Tina’ – of Tawas City, formerly of Flint, age 96, passed away March 22, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City. A Funeral Service will be held 11 am Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint; Pastor Paul Ytterock officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Saturday, there will be visitation at the church from 10:30 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family’s wishes.

Edith was born in Ionia, MI on July 15, 1914, daughter of the late John T. and Veva (Carpenter) Rich. Edith Rich married Elwood E. Boyer on August 2, 1947. Elwood preceded her in death in 1988. Edith graduated from Western Michigan University in 1938 with a Bachelors Degree. She taught Home Economics at Davison High School, St. John Vianney, Mandeville and Mt. Morris. Edith was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1958 where she was active in many ways including the Bishop Class and Woman’s Guild. She was also a member of the Flint Lioness Club.

Edith is survived by her daughter, Beth (Brad) Heal of Tawas City; grandsons, Jason (Lisa) of Tawas City and Scott (Christi) of Carrollton, TX; four great-grandchildren, Elise, Ryan, Leila and Wyatt; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Edith was preceded in death by her sisters, Florence Little and Katherine Howard.
