Harlan William Sigmund
Age 78 of Maple Grove Township passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church of Maple Grove. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church that day from 9:00am until the time of service.
Harlan was born on February 2, 1938 to Linus J. and Catherine A. (Laux) Sigmund. He graduated from St. Michael's School, and then served in the United States National Guard. Harlan married Judith Ann Wendling on October 29, 1960 at St. Michael's.
Harlan was a lifelong farmer, and he also worked for Peet Packing for 37 years. He loved his farm and his dog, Sarg, and he was an avid John Deere collector. Above all, he loved being with his family.
Harlan is survived by his children, Karen (Terrence Birchmeier) Beckman, Sue (Steve) Bishop, Debra Shanafelt, Dennis (Gail) Sigmund, Diane Sigmund, and MaryJo (William) Muron; his 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Bernardine Eaves.
He is predeceased by his wife, Judith; his parents; his granddaughter, Jessica; his son-in-law, Edward; his sister, Angela Sagady; his brother, Dennis Sigmund; and his brother-in-law, Jack Eaves.
