GIBBS, John N. Jr.- Loving father and grandfather of Columbiaville, age 86, passed away at The Pines of Lake Fenton on Thursday, May 30, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held 3 PM Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Pastor Jeff Stonerock officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will be held in Oregon Township Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors Friday from 2-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
John was born in Genesee Township, MI, on October 6, 1926, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Lerche) Gibbs. He married Marcellie Simmons on June 12, 1945 and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2006. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1974. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling to Florida with his wife. He later moved up to Harrisville, where he enjoyed salmon fishing. John was an avid hunter, sportsman and loved his dogs. He was a wonderful friend and loved to care for his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Don) Millikan and Penny Gibbs; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Paul and Floyd Gibbs; 2 sisters, Mabel Underwood and Lily Harris.
