COOK, John Phillip (Jack) – of Davison and Brookhaven Group Home in Columbiaville, age 80, passed away February 24, 2015 at Hurley Hospital. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 4:30 PM Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Fr. Carl Simon officiating; Private Burial will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Friday and 3:30-4:30 PM Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to North End Soup Kitchen, Alzheimer’s Association, Humane Society of Genesee County or the charity of one’s choice.
Jack was born in Bay City, MI on January 26, 1935, son of the late Jacob and Treva (Sharp) Cook. He was a resident of Flint and Davison and for the last year resided at Brookhaven Group Home in Columbiaville. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1953 and married Rosemary Matus in 1962. He was employed by AC Spark Plug for 47 years in the Shipping Department and was a member of AC UAW Local 651. Jack’s greatest pleasures were deer hunting, dining out, going to the casino and spending time with family, grandchildren, pets and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Jack leaves behind his constant companion and best friend, Rosemary (Matus) Cook; his son, Mark David Cook; grandson, Gage Cody Cook; great-granddaughter, Berkley Jewel Cook; daughter, Lisa Mary (Paul) Lowden; granddaughters, Kristyn Elise Lowden, Kaitlyn Paulina Lowden; grandson, his little buddy, Kyler Jon Lowden; sister, Barbara (Tom) Nichols; brother-in-law Dr. Hugh L. Grover; aunts, Bernadine Cook and Molly Wolfe; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, his Brookhaven Family and Tabitha. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bette Grover; nephew, Dr. Theron H. Grover. His deepest gratitude to his daughter, Lisa Mary and her family for their loving care during his extended illness. A special thank you to nurse Cathie Wilson and her staff at Brookhaven and all of Jack’s medical team and doctors. A thank you to Deacon Mark and nurse Matt and the rest of the staff who attended to his needs at the time of his passing.
