SMITH, Daniel Victor – of Davison, MI, age 75, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-8 PM Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM-12 PM Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 5 PM Sunday, July 14, 2019 followed by a Memorial Service under the auspices of the Davison Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree Council #4090 and 4th Degree Assembly # 0523 at Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Dan’s memory.
Dan was born in Flint, MI on August 28, 1943, son of the late Ernest and Cecelia (Gauthier) Smith. He married Virginia Stoick on October 17, 1964. Dan retired from General Motors Buick after more than 30 years of service, which included the development of the Chaplaincy Program. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Davison Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree Council #4090 and 4th Degree Assembly # 0523. Dan enjoyed traveling and photography. After retirement, Dan and Virginia moved to Florida where they both worked at Disney World during the winter and Covenant Hills Camp and Retreat in Otisville, MI during the summer.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; 4 children, Daniel (Lisa) Smith, David (Lynette) Smith, Stephen (Marcia) Smith and Ann-Marie Roberts; 6 grandchildren; Tiffany, Thomas, Krysta, Valentina, Bethany and Lindsay; 2 great-grandsons, Tyler and Hunter; 3 sisters, Nola, Rose and June; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Kasandra Rose; 1 sister and 4 brothers.
