David John Kammerzell, age 62, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on December 16, 1955 to John, Jr. and Alice (Shaffer) Kammerzell. Dave lived in the Flint area where he retired from the US Postal Service in 2013 and was a member of the American Postal Workers Union. After retirement, he and his wife, Monica, moved to the Grand Rapids area where they lived in Jenison. Dave was an avid and skilled bowler. He was a member of the American Bowling Association 800 Club as well as earning a spot in the Flint Bowling Hall of Fame. He also was proud of his placement in the Flint Baseball Hall of Fame. Dave also enjoyed time spent golfing and fishing.
Dave is survived by his parents, John and Alice of Burton; his wife, Monica; his son Dustin Kammerzell of Montrose; his step-daughter, Stefanie (Seth) Cavalea of Helena, Montana and step-son Joshua (Ashley) Yancho of Rockford; his granddaughters, Isabelle and Natalie Kammerzell, Mikayla Kammerzell; his grandson, Sam Yancho, who brought joy to the house in Dave’s final time; his sister Tammy (Joe) Saidoo of Burton; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services for Dave will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Swartz Funeral Home 1225 W Hill Rd. Flint, Mi. 48507 where family will meet visitors from 11:00-1:00 PM. Those wishing to make a donation in Dave’s memory may do so to Spectrum Health Continuing Care – Palliative and Hospice @ spectrumhealth.org.
