SHORKEY, George W. Jr. – of Lapeer, MI, age 84, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020. A Graveside Service will be held at Richfield Union Cemetery on Monday August 10, 2020 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Rd., Ste. 100, Southfield, MI 48033-7443.
George was born in Rogers City, MI on August 29, 1935, son of the late George W. and Veronica (Kohsmann) Shorkey. He married Janet Ferrington on July 10, 1981 in Burton, MI. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, and Moose Lodge. George liked to travel and have a good time.
George is survived by his wife, Janet; 5 children, Georgeann (Dan) Courser, Laura (Larry) Hollbrook, Tracy Paulus, Mark Shorkey and Steve (Debbie) Shorkey; 3 step-children, Leo Sutherland, Charlene (James) Palmer, Marilyn (Eddie) Rykuski; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Shorkey and Geraldine (Juda) Romel and many other loving family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Marcus Shorkey; stepdaughter, Cynthia Haviland and 6 siblings.
