ZISSLER, Shirley A. – of Flint, formerly of Bridgeport, age 78, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastor Gary Beck officiating. Burial to follow in Cook Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11AM until 8PM and on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Shirley was born on March 1, 1940 in Tuscola, Michigan to the late Clayton and Floris (McIntyre) Hiser. She graduated from Cass City High School in 1959. Shirley married Jack Zissler on December 26, 1964 in Saginaw, Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2001. Shirley worked for the Bavarian Inn Lodge for 15 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Flint and was a previous member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed ice skating.
Surviving are: Sons: Matthew (Shelly) Zissler and Christopher (Jenni) Zissler; Grandchildren: Brynn Zissler, Cainan Zissler, Emilie Zissler, Christen Zissler, Matthew Vaughn, Trevor Lamphere, and Bradley Swyrtek. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Orson and Ed Hiser; sisters: Carol Baker and Roberta Holcomb.
