James, Bobby Jack of Flushing, age 80, died Monday, February 2, 2015, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Bobby was born in Hornbeck, Tennessee on January 28, 1935, the son of Eddie and Eva (Permenta) James. As a young boy, he grew up in Missouri where he worked on a plantation, picking cotton. Learning of a job opportunity in Flint, Michigan, he moved as a young adult to begin his career at General Motors, retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the Local Union #598. Bobby enjoyed winters in South Padre Island. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed staying busy doing yard work and gardening.
Bobby is survived by his best friend and companion of 18 years, Joan Smith; children, Timothy (Annita) James, Allen (Allean) James, Douglas (Sheila) James, Shannon (Theresa) James, Thomas Bandy, Debra (Rodney) Blaisdell, Robin (Jeffrey) Schneider, Sally (Steve) Ferguson; grandchildren, Sarah, Lacy, Emily, Chelsea, Kaitlyn, Landon, Rowland, Lauren, Steven, Jason, Jessica, Aaron, Tyler, Neal, Mallory, Samantha, Shelby, Steffani, Mariana, Elias; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Cotus James and Christine Burch. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Maxine Berry and Jack James. |
