SMEJKAL, Maureen Marie (Kazmierski) – of Burton, MI, age 81, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 12-4 PM Friday, April 12, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 3:30 PM Friday, April 12, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Flint Area Right to Life.
Maureen was born in Bay City, MI on July 12, 1937, daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Kurlinski) Kazmierski. She married Frank P. Smejkal on August 3, 1968 in Bay City, MI and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2015. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and she was a volunteer at Holy Rosary Catholic School. Maureen was a dedicated mother and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, bowling, and trips to the casino.
Maureen is survived by her daughter, Nikki Oleksinski, and husband, Nicholas, and their children, Alex, Colin, and Noah; son, Kevin Smejkal, and wife, Cristina, and their children, Lila and Trent; sister, Marilyn (Richard) Stachowiak; sister-in-law, Jean (Frank) Yanik; four nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by grandson, Mason Oleksinski, and sister-in-law, Ethel (George) Jancarik.
