Gorden Joseph Collick of Flushing, age 95, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Living Joy of Flushing surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at Rossell Funeral Home, Fr. Louis Ekka officiating. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon-8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until time of the service Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Robert School or the NASV (National Association for Senior Veterans).
Gorden was born in Allegan, MI on March 13, 1916, the son of Thomas and Mable (Walters) Collick. He married Virginia Mary Steiner on January 1, 1940 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Flint. They were married for 65 years before her death on January 13, 2005.
Gorden had worked at Schmitzer Sunoco Station of Flint for 32 years and then at Buick Motor Division for six years before retiring. He had attended Northern High School and was a member of their Cross Country Track Team. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Robert Senior Citizens and Flushing Roadrunners Square Dance Club. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, hunting, and fishing and he loved his family.
Gorden is survived by: seven children, Beverly and husband Dominick Ferrara of Lake Ann, MI, Thomas and wife Kathryn Collick of Davison, Ernest and wife Patty Collick of Bellaire, Richard and wife Annette Collick of Linden, Nan and husband Paul Ranger of Traverse City, Annette and husband John Satterwhite of Flushing, Kimberly and husband Norman Goddard of Flushing; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas and wife Helena Collick of Manistee, MI. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; a brother; baby daughter, Linda Marie Collick; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Collick and Josie Rauch.
