BAKER, Laurence Charles - Of Burton, age 80, died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Sterling House of Davison.
Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, November 14, 2013
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Salvation Army.
Visitation 1-4pm and 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Laurence was born in Goodrich, MI on August 11, 1933, the son of Frederick and Mildred Baker, and was a resident of Flint Township and Burton all of his life. He married Carol Smith on May 27, 1967 and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2001. Laurence was a 1951 graduate of Kearsley High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Mr. Baker was employed by AC Spark Plug Division, as a supervisor, for 36 years, retiring in 1987.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Nancy) Chambon, Penny Robbins, Pamela (Doug) Brown, Brian (Lisa) Chambon, and Larry (Renay) Baker;
grandchildren, Kylee Cherny, Angela Peraino, Christopher Robbins, Samantha and Jeremy Chambon, Jacob and Jamie Chambon, Mark and Sean Miller, Anna Jo Baker, Matthew, Alycia and Ada Frezza;
4 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Sydnie, Zachary and Kaleb Cherny;
brother, Jack (Betty) Baker;
sister, Janice Shannon, many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary.
