FORDHAM, Ms. Bernice - age 63, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at Regency at Grand Blanc-Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Lewis Randolph Host Pastor, Pastor Ryan Mixon officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Monday. Ms. Fordham will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

Ms. Bernice Fordham age 63, was born December 9, 1950 in Bradenton, Florida, the daughter of the late Pastor Otha and Idella Fordham, Sr. Bernice and her family relocated to Flint in 1967. She graduated from Northwestern High School “Class of 1969” and was a long-time member of the Class Reunion Committee. She attended Mott Community College majoring in Communications. She worked for WTAC Radio Station as a “DJ” and was known as “Ms. B.” Ms. B was a well-known fashion commentator and DJ in the Flint community. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle. In 1967, she became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and joined Everlasting Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her father in 1975. While at Everlasting Missionary Baptist Church, she served in several auxiliaries including, Church Secretary, sang in the choir, served on the Mothers Board and was a trustee until her health failed. Bernice was a member of Cape Jasmine Chapter No. 2 Order of the Eastern Star where she held several offices including, the office of Worthy Matron, a member of Willie Meeks Amaranth Court #5, Beauty Rose Court #5 Heroines of Jericho, Holy Cross Council #4, Lady Knight Temper, where she held the office of Secretary in each house. She was a member of Mable S. Powell, Matron and Patrons Council and held the Grand office of Ruth in the greater Queen Ester Grand Chapter O.E.S. Detroit, MI.

Ms. Bernice Fordham leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Carlos Antonio Fordham, Sr., and Adrian Dean Banks, both of Flint and Marcus Desean Fordham of Mt. Morris, MI; 6 grandchildren, Samayiah Fordham of Atlanta, GA, Lanelle Fordham of Charlotte, NC, Carlos Fordham, Jr., Jaylin Fordham and Latrelle Fordham all of Flint and Naomi Fordham of Mt. Morris; 3 sisters, Patricia McQueen of Holly, MI, Caren Fordham-Knight of Flint and Pearl (Rev. Joseph) Brown of Columbia, TN; 3 nieces, Domicka Prince and Kimberly Knight, both of Flint and Keturah Brown of Columbia, TN; 8 nephews, Amin and Kwame Miller, Dion Jefferson, Joseph and Timothy Brown all of Columbia, TN; Benjamin Fordham and Thomas Knight both of Flint and Jeremy Brown of Columbia, TN; 2 aunts, Lillie Millender of Grand Blanc, MI and Lois Edward of Carmel, IN; 2 uncles, Joseph (Alma) Fordham of Burton, MI and Roy (Carolyn) Fordham of Flint; sister-in-law, Valerie Fordham of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Ruthie Caudle, Laura Henry Joyce McCain, Trena Epps and Marilyn Kennedy.

Ms. Fordham was preceded in death by parents, Pastor Otha (Idella) Fordham, Sr.; brother, Otha Fordham, Jr.; brother-in-law, Thomas Knight, Jr.; aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Arora, Dr. Singh, RN’s Beth Wright, Renee Mitchell, Linda Richardson, Dave and Joe; Regency of Grand Blanc staff, Cape Jasmine Chapter No. 2 O.E.S., Pastor Ryan Mixon and the Everlasting Missionary Baptist Church family, Pastor Lewis Randolph and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family and the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home staff.

The Fordham family expresses over and abundantly sincere thanks to all who showed such infinite love during the times of us giving back to God a great person that He had loaned to us!
