MELLO, Wanda M. (Nowaczyk/Novak)- Age 89, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint,
Father Douglas Osborn officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Donation may be made to Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, MI 48154.
Visitation 12 noon-7:30pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed 6pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Monday at the church until the time of the Mass.
Wanda was born in Flint on November 8, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica/Verna (Spychalski) Nowaczyk.
Wanda married Michael J. Mello on July 14, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Michael preceded her in death on May 2, 2009 after 64 years of marriage. Wanda was a devout Catholic and a former member of St. Luke Church and All Saints Church in Flint. Wanda was a talented artist and seamstress. She worked at Michigan Bell, A.C. Spark Plug (WWII war effort), and Chevrolet. Served as volunteer Corresponding Secretary. World Apostolate of Fatima, USA – Our Lady’s Blue Army. Her greatest joy and accomplishment was raising her eight children.
Cherishing her memory are four daughters, Denise (Conrad) Szydlowski, Veronica (Keith) Campbell, Mary Mello Dinse, Christine (Briant) Mello Sikorski;
three sons, Gerard (Martha) Mello, Matthew (Kelly Davis) Mello, Joseph (Joyce) Mello;
29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren;
brother-in-law, George Mello;
sisters-in-law, Dorothy Nowaczyk, Eleanor Appel, Theresa Graham;
numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wanda was preceded in death by son Michael Mello, six brothers, Eugene, Julian, Joseph, Walter, Edwin and Edward
