Ellamae Blackburn, age 90 of Durand, passed away at her home on June 1, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 700 E. Columbia Dr. Durand, MI 48429. Fr. Jeffrey A. Poll will be officiating with burial to take place on Monday at 2:00p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso. The family will receive friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 7:00p.m.
Ellamae was born on February 6, 1922 in Durand, the daughter of Wellington and Flossie (Morse) Parks. On October 12, 1940 she married Donald Matthew Blackburn in Durand and together raised 9 children. Donald passed away on May 8, 1970.
Mrs. Blackburn lived in the Durand area all of her life and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She also loved children of all ages.
Mrs. Blackburn is survived by 9 children: Bethany Everhart of Fenton, Tom (Irene) Blackburn of McKinleyville, CA, Sue Hale of Durand, Michael (Eileen) Blackburn of Portland, OR, Christine (Robert) Maier of Durand, Brian (Cindy) Blackburn of Durand, Rosemary (Arthur) Hutchinson of Durand, Claudia (Jim) Berry of Everett, WA, Mark (Peggy) Blackburn of Durand; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Corabelle DeClerg of Portland, MI; brother, Lloyd Parks of Riverdale, MI; sister-in-law, Virginia Parks of Lakeland, FL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; both parents; brothers: Carlyle Parks and Morse (Sarah) Parks; sister, Emmagean (Georg)Townsend; brother and sister in-laws: Clarence and Julia Blackburn, Eugene and Maxine Pasinski, Margaret Parks Jeannie Parks & Maurice DeClerg; son-in-law, Lawrence Hale.
