Koons, Thelma of Flushing, age 80, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Living Word Church of God, 6325 Calkins Rd., Flint. Pastor Tim McKenzie will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries, Flint.
Thelma was born in Fairgrove, Michigan in May of 1934, the daughter of Melvin and Nellie. She married Dale Koons in September of 1950, in Flint. Thelma was a member of the Living Word Church of God. She was an avid reader. Thelma was proud of her 22 years of service in the office of McNally Buick Chevrolet in Flushing. She loved her family and enjoyed keeping in touch with them through text messaging and Facebook. Thelma also loved her dog, Gabe. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale; children, David and wife Bonnie Koons, Susan Pierce, Duane Koons and wife Maureen O'Connor, Sandra and husband Bill Roberts, Sherri Koons; daughter-in-law, Deborah Koons; grandchildren, Jason (Jill), Jonathan, Laura (Cameron), Jeremy (Charity), Brooke (Jeff), Aaron, Chad, Carina (Jeremy), Caitlin (Nathan), Moira, Liam, Malachy, Donald, Tommy, Kaila, Ilysh, Aiden; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara and husband Thomas Finkbeiner, Joyce Sparpanic and dear friends, Delbert and Donna Beemer. Thelma was preceded in death by her son, Dale Leroy Koons; grandson, Kai Koons; great-granddaughter, Maleeyah Marie Lokken and brother, Dale Soper. |
