KOESTER, Sarah Louise (Mowery) – of Burton, MI, age 32, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Boulevard, Flint, MI 48506; Pastor Jeffrey D. Frechette officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 10 AM-1 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, in Sarah’s memory.
Sarah was born in Ypsilanti, MI, on July 19, 1991, daughter of James and Ruth (Le Pere) Mowery. She was a graduate of Mentor High School, Mentor, OH, Class of 2009. On August 18, 2012, Sarah married Eric Koester in Mentor, OH. Sarah continued her education at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, where she earned a bachelor's degree in music in 2013. Sarah's passion for music was evident throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and lent her soprano voice to the New Century Chorale for 8 years. Additionally, she was a skilled flautist and enjoyed performing with the Flint Concert Band for many years. Beyond her musical pursuits, Sarah found immense joy in the company of family and friends. Her vibrant spirit embraced life's adventures, from lively games to tranquil hikes and camping trips. Sarah's warm smile and compassionate heart left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of music, joy, and love will continue to inspire us all.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 11 years, Eric Koester; 2 children, Phoebe Koester and Naomi Koester; parents, James and Ruth Mowery; 2 siblings, Hannah Mowery and Jeremiah (Kaitlyn) Mowery; parents-in-law, Kermit and Sherry Koester; 3 siblings-in-law, Kevin (Rebeckah) Koester, Kyle Koester and Ethan (Luciana) Koester; 2 nieces, Chloe Koester and Julia Koester; nephew, Aaron Koester; grandparents, Ronald and Charlotte Le Pere, Terry and Louise Mowery and Betty Weiss; many other loving family members and good friends. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Victor Weiss, Martin and Winifred Koester.
