WILCOX, Bertan James - Age 83, of Byron, died Sunday, January 6, 2019. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Rusty Russell officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Bertan was born September 20, 1935 in Detroit, the son of John Henry and Clara Beatrice (House) Wilcox. He was a 1954 graduate of Wayne High School. He married Rachel Cochran June 26, 1954 in Wayne and she preceded him in death November 9, 1999, he then married Kay Maass August 25, 2001 in Byron. He had resided in Byron since 1968 coming from Fenton/Wayne. Bertan retired from Atlas Technology in Fenton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, horseshoes, bowling, playing cards, and most of all planting his garden. He also was an avid University of Michigan fan.
Surviving are: his wife, Kay; children, Michael (Lucy) Wilcox, Leslie (Carrie) Wilcox, Greg (Karen) Wilcox, Pamela Skinner, Carrie (Todd) Wilcox Brewer, John (Melissa) Wilcox, Beth Crawford, Jessica (Jeremy) Walter, Shelly (Eric) Helka, Tammy (David) Scott, and Dana (Jason) Biery; 30 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; sisters, Doreen Armstrong, Dorothy Pakkala, and Doris Kreklau; brothers, Bob Wilcox and Melvin (Sue) Wilcox; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew "Bud" Wilcox; granddaughter, Angela Wilcox; grandson, Mitchell Wilcox; sister, Donna Hughes; and brother, Bill Wilcox. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes. com. |
