Mr. Cleamon “Red” Odglen, 88, of Tuckerman departed this life on Monday, September 16, 2013 in Newport. He was born May 19, 1925 in Grubbs, the son of William Edgar and Lena (Ivie) Odglen.
Mr. Odglen was an insurance agent and supervisor for National Life and Accident of Nashville, Tennessee, and later a property owner and landlord in Tuckerman and Grubbs. He was a member of the Grubbs Class of 1943, and a United States Army veteran. Mr. Odglen served between World War II and Korea, and was a Military Policeman from 1945-1946. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Mr. Odglen was jovial, personable and had a fun smile that could win over a statue. He was content with life. Mr. Odglen was a member and past board member of the Tuckerman First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances (Heddon) Odglen; his second wife, Mae Ludean (Magee) Odglen; one step-son, Gerry Heddon; and a daughter-in-law, Linda (McCormick) Odglen.
Mr. Odglen is survived by one son, Lynn Odglen of Davison, Michigan; one daughter, Linda White of Otisville, Michigan; one step-son, Mike Ivie; three step-daughters, Marquitta Swindoll of Hernando, Mississippi, Sharon Manning of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and Karon Steadman of Hernando, Mississippi; one brother, Gerald Odglen of Swartz Creek, Michigan; one sister, Janis Combs of Flint, Michigan; one step daughter-in-law, Kathleen Heddon of Davison, Michigan; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, T.K. Morris of Tuckerman.

The following Services have taken place:

Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday evening, 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning, 11:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Elton White, Rex Odglen, Tony Odglen, Gregory Krawzak, Wayne Steadman, and Buddy Swindoll.
