Powell, Gloria C. – of Montrose, age 93, died Friday, January 3, 2020, at Tanglewood Assisted Living in Fenton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 6, 2020, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose.Pastors Tim Hobson and Bob Leming officiating. Burial to follow in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-8 PM and Monday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11. Memorial contributions may be made to Lamb of God Fellowship Church, Montrose Family Worship Center, or the Veterans Bell Memorial in Montrose.
Gloria was born August 15, 1926, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Ernest and Beatrice (Foreman) Wheeler. She had resided in Montrose most of her life. Gloria married Jack Powell on December 27, 1944. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2009. Gloria retired from Flushing Community Schools with over 20 years of service. She attended Trinty Assembly of God for years and Lamb of God Fellowship Church in Montrose. Gloria enjoyed cooking, canning, and parties. She was a very social person who loved people and loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are: 3 children: Yvonne (Mel) Durham of Montrose, Jack (Charlene) Powell of Montrose and Glenn Powell of Montrose; 8 grandchildren: David Powell, Kim Mills, Adam Powell, Tammy Sischo, Teri Durham, Todd Durham, Nicole Stroup, and Shane Powell; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
