SCHLUND, Laura Ann (Wolcott) – of Flint, MI, age 64, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, August 12, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Interment, immediately following the Mass, in Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 5-7 PM Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Monday, August 12, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic School, in Laura’s memory.
Laura was born in Flint, MI on December 1, 1959, daughter of the late Robert and Elaine (Andrus) Wolcott. A cherished member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Laura dedicated over two decades of her life to serving her community. She retired in 2019 as the Pastoral Associate, having devoted her time to guiding and nurturing the spiritual growth of others. Laura’s deep commitment to Christ was evident in her many roles within the church. She served as the coordinator for the Worship Commission, Art and Environment Committee, and Extraordinary Ministers and Lectors. Her contributions also extended to the Finance Council and Pastoral Commission. As the Director of Religious Education, she was instrumental in educating both children and adults, and as RCIA Director, she warmly introduced hundreds to the Catholic Faith and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Laura’s heart thrived during Holy Week as she prepared for the joyous celebration of Christ’s Resurrection. Married to the love of her life, Daniel Schlund, Sr., on May 15, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Laura’s life was a beautiful testament to her faith and devotion. A proud graduate of Kearsley High School, Class of 1977, and an alumna of Baker Business College, she embraced every opportunity to serve and uplift those around her. Laura’s profound love for Christ was the cornerstone of her life, followed closely by her deep affection for her family and friends. Her legacy of faith, service, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Laura is survived by her husband, Daniel Schlund, Sr.; step-son, Daniel (Nichole) Schlund, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Schlund; granddaughter, Lennex Schlund; brother-in-law, Robert (Laree) Schlund; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elaine Wolcott; parents-in-law, Charles and Ruth Schlund; sister, Susan Wolcott; step-son, Nathan Schlund and brother-in-law, Duane Schlund.
