JOHNSTON, Leona “Lee” - Of Grand Blanc, age 88, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Regency at Grand Blanc.
Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Dr. Darrell Foltz officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc or the Rescue Mission.
Visitation 6-8pm Wednesday and 10am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Leona was born in Pathfork, Kentucky, the daughter of Wilse and LuSinda (Payne) Howard, and was a resident of the Flint area and Grand Blanc since 1942. She married John R. Johnston on August 24, 1944 and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1986. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc. Mrs. Johnston was employed by Grand Blanc School District for 28 years, retiring in 1987.
Surviving are children, Gerald and wife Donna of Grand Blanc and LuSinda (Richard) Johnston-Shaw of Burton;
grandchildren, Aurora, Thomas, Becky, Stacey, Jenny John and Jerry;
10 great-grandchildren;
brothers, Wilse and wife Helen Howard, Charles Howard and Samuel and wife Margie Howard;
sister, Ruth and husband Alonzo Spence;
several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Allen D., parents, beloved grandparents, John and Annie Payne and sister, Ruby Cutlip.
