WING, Dawn Marrie - age 60, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ben Erwin officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 11AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
Dawn was born in Chatan, Okinawa, on February 4, 1965, to the late Jerry and Yoshiko (Higa) Wing. When she was two years old, the Wing family relocated to Michigan and resided in the greater Flint area where she attended Lapeer and Genesee Schools, graduating in 1983 from Genesee. For nearly 40 years, she proudly worked in retail management at Meijer, 7-Eleven, and Kroger, retiring in 2024. She influenced and touched many lives in customer service and loved making people happy and providing quality service to her community. Dawn loved her customers and coworkers, and they loved her. She really supported and appreciated public safety and loved their visits while working. Dawn had a passion for art, especially photography and cultural tattoos, and she absolutely adored anything the color purple. She was known to have an amethyst and turquoise ring on every finger, and she went all out decorating for Halloween, her favorite holiday. Dawn was an avid sports fan who enjoyed rooting for the Detroit Lions and Tigers, and the occasional WWE match - especially if the Undertaker was involved. She loved spending quality time up north hunting and fishing with her family. Above all else, she truly loved being an aunt to her many nieces and nephews and being a fur-mom to her beloved dogs, Mia and Kaida. Dawn had a kind spirit that would light up any room she entered, and she can never be replaced. She will be dearly missed.
Dawn is forever loved and remembered by: Brothers and Sisters: Kim (John) Erwin, Mark (Julie) Wing, Michelle Wing (John VanBuskirk), and James (Kimberly) Wing; Nieces and Nephews: Erin (Mark) Perez, O’Ryan (Nicole) Erwin, Amaya VanBuskirk, Landon Wing, Allison Wing, Teijin Wing, and Meili Wing; Great Nieces and Nephews: Apollo, Atlas, Parker, Emerson, Jace, Malakai; Her beloved Okinawa family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends - especially Chris Thrower, who helped Dawn in many ways with love and kindness. Dawn was preceded in death by: Parents, Jerry and Yoshiko; Grandma Jennie Pompee; Aunts: Judy and Masako; Uncle Teijin. |
