RAJALA, Eino – Of Flint, age 89, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 11:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 746 South Saginaw Street, Flint, Pastor Paul Ytterock officiating.
Interment at First Presbyterian Columbarium.
Those desiring may make contributions to First Presbyterian Church or Flint Kiwanis Educational Foundation.
Eino was born in Rock, Michigan on May 10, 1923, the son of John and Louisa (Malkamaki) Rajala.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army in Special Forces during World War II.
On February 23, 1946 he married Nancy L. Hardy.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He was a founding member of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Flint at time of its charter in 1945.
Mr. Rajala served as Past President three different times for the Michigan Home Builders Association.
He enjoyed going to Past president council meetings and had a great recollection of the Building Industry History and Association from the 1940’s.
He was Director of the National Association of Home Builders, Director of Michigan Association of Home Builders and also a member of the Bayview Association of Michigan and the Flint Kiwanis Club.
Surviving are wife, Nancy L.;
twin daughters, Margaret Louise (John) Blaisdell and Patricia (Joseph) Higgins;
daughter-in-law, Katherine
grandchildren, Sarah (Montgomery)Smith
Christopher (Katherine) Waxweiler;
5 great-grandchildren Carter, Marin and Talbot Smith, Sloan and Weston Waxweiler and
brother-in-law, Robert J. Hardy.
He was preceded in death by son, Rodney; parents, John and Louisa Rajala.
