RICHARDS, Ruth Ann – age 80 of Grand Blanc, MI passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at The Oaks at Woodfield. Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 from 2PM-4PM & 6PM-8PM. A Rosary Service will be held at 7PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11AM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church – 1227 E. Bristol Rd. Burton, MI. Interment to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Ruth was born on November 17, 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late Thomas and Melvina Canon. She married William Ronald Richards on April 27, 1963. Ruth loved to travel. She was also an avid ice skater which sparked her son Gary’s passion for playing hockey. Ruth was an extremely talented artist and was always doing sketches of her family. She was a member of The Flint Association of the Deaf for over 50 years. Ruth was one of the sweetest people you could have the pleasure of knowing. Due to her kind nature she had a multitude of loyal friends. She was the best mother-in-law ever. Surviving are her son, Gary (Joan) Richards; grandson, Jacob Richards; brother, Charles (Rita) Canon; nephews, Thomas and David Canon; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Royce) Dixon, and several other family members and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Melvina Canon; husband, William Richards. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Schriner, Dr. Braver, Heart to Heart Hospice, the staff at the Oaks at Woodfield, and Matthew Krupa for all of their extraordinary care and compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family for a scholarship fund for her grandson Jacob. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hillfh.com. |
