ROSE, Mary Ellen – Of Grand Blanc, age 83, died Monday, April 3, 2017.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at Crestwood Cemetery Chapel, 2020 East Hill Road in Grand Blanc.
Mary was a generous donor to the National Parkinson Foundation as both of her parents were diagnosed with the disease. In lieu of flowers, donations to the foundation in her memory are encouraged.
Mary was born in Flint, Michigan on January 4, 1934. She was the daughter of Scottish immigrants John and Helen (Johnstone) Kerr. Mary grew up in downtown Grand Blanc, attending K-12 in what is now the Ezra Perry Center. Upon her graduation in 1948, Mary went to work for Michigan National Bank
On February 15th 1958 Mary married the love of her life, Henry Rose. Upon marrying, she gave up her banking career to become a full-time mother and homemaker. Her life was forever changed when Henry passed away in 1979.
Mary maintained treasured friendships with her school and banking friends throughout her life. When remembering Mary, her sense of humor, quick wit, infectious laugh and her strong determination will put a smile on the faces of all that were close to her. She was a great listener, a loyal and honest friend, and was the person you would call if you needed to be cheered up.
Surviving are daughters, Catherine (Victor) George and
Barbara Rose;3 grandchildren, Allison (Myles) Sprague, Victor E. George and John George. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Rose.
