Lemieux, Doris Adeline “Toby, Tiny” of Flushing, age 86, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Rossell Funeral Home. Fr. Gordon Reigle will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 11-2 and 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Robert Catholic Church.
Doris was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on December 2, 1930, the daughter of Robert and Lora (Herndon) Pyrtle. She married George Lemieux on June 6, 1964, in Mt. Morris. She worked for Dan River in Danville, Virginia before moving to Michigan in 1953 where she hired into GM-Ternstedt on Coldwater Road until her retirement in 1983. She later joined the forces in Fraternal Enterprises and retired from there in 2000. Along with her husband, Doris enjoyed her retirement years in their winter home. She loved gardening, taking care of her home and was always the best dressed woman in the room.
Doris is survived by her husband of 53 years, George; children, Dorothy and husband Bob Nisbet, Cindy and husband Shawn Potter, Marie Lemieux, Michelle Lemieux Tachias, Deborah and husband Larry King, Craig and wife Dianne Lemieux; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her beloved siblings, nieces and nephews and Virginia family. She was preceded in death by her son, William Lawrence Courney; son-in-law, Paul Tachias; parents; and brothers and sisters, Ruth, Edgar, Lucy, Josey, Elma, Walter, and James.
