WILLIAM “BILL” JOHN SWEENEY, age 85 of Davison, died Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Bella Vita in Grand Blanc. A graveside service will be held at 10AM on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, with Pastor Dave Weir officiating. Bill was born in Flint, MI on November 4, 1934 to John and Catherine Sweeney. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Corps. After returning home from service, he began his career at General Motors, where he worked for 48 years and retired. On September 21, 1996, he married Melody Pierce. Bill was a member of the Lapeer Eagles Aerie 2427, Michigan Snowmobile Association, National Pygmy Goat Association, and the UAW Local 659. Bill enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, raising and showing pygmy goats, and eating ice-cream. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Melody; children: Shayna (Gregory) Hatcher, Stephany (Chris) Arnould, Sarah (Derek) White, Lisa (Bill) Haver, Laurie (Robert) Hodgkinson, Connie (Robert) Gerwolds, and Jeanie (John) Smoke; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Kathy (Jerry) Downey. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
