Oscar was born in Scioto Furnace, Ohio on May 10, 1932. He was one of 11 children born into a blended family from Alfred Donohue and Ina Riddlebarger-Donohue. He grew up in Sebewaing, Michigan and began working for the railroad at age 18. Back then it was called the Pere Marquette Railway. Oscar is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and he served during the Korean War. He married Betty Lou Gage in Wisner Township, Michigan on September 24, 1955.
Together they raised two sons and lived in their beautiful Grand Blanc home for 55 years.
Most days during the warm months you could find him and Betty tending to their garden and maintaining their impeccable yard.
Oscar formed many relationships over the years with the neighbors in his community. Oscar has been a devoted member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Burton for 56 years. Involved in many aspects of the church over the years, including deacon for 14 years, a seat on the board, and in early years drove children to church on the bus. Oscar did not need a title or recognition to be a servant of the Lord.
He had a passion for missionary and witnessing. He always visited the sick and prayed without hesitation for others in need.
Oscar will forever be known as a true prayer warrior. His Sunday tradition was attending church and having dinner at Walli’s Restaurant afterwards.
Oscar retired after 44 years as a signalman for the CSX Railroad. During those years he was recognized as an employee with integrity, the best attendance, and the cleanest truck and office. To his family, railroad crossing signals will forever hold a heartfelt memory.
