McNally, Thomas Brucker, age 86, of Flushing, passed away July 3, 2020. Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
Thomas was born in Flint, Michigan on October 5, 1933, the youngest son of Frank and Pearl (Cuthbertson) McNally. Tom grew up in Flushing and attended Flushing High School. He graduated from Michigan State University where he was an active member of Delta Chi Fraternity. Tom met the love of his life, Sue Oppermann, on the train to the Michigan State Rose Bowl game in 1954. They were married on June 18, 1955, and enjoyed 65 years together.
After graduation, Tom served in the U.S. Navy. Tom and his brother, Dick, ran the family car business which grew to be one of the largest private employers in Flushing. Tom was active in the Michigan Automobile Dealers Association where he served as president in 1991.
Tom loved golf, fishing, travel, family and was a loyal Spartan. He took a yearly fishing trip with his brother, Dick, to Canada for over 40 years. In the fall, you could find Tom and Sue at Michigan State football games as season ticket holders.
Tom's greatest joy was his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years, Sue; children, Tom and wife Ellen McNally Jr., John and wife Candice McNally; grandchildren, Michael (Sarah), Jaclyn, Doug, Patrick (Bridget), Casey and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Madeline. He will be also missed by many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and dear friends. |
